What's an Alpha?
An Alpha is a the guy who calls the shots, picks the bar, chooses the channel, cooks the steaks, orders first, eats Oberto beef jerky, decides where to set up camp, decides when to leave, gets the number, etc…Wait a minute – If you were an Alpha, you wouldn’t be asking, now would you?
What's a Sidekick?
A Sidekick walks in second, rides shotgun, buys the drinks, laughs at every joke, waits in line, orders what his Alpha orders, takes the pictures, hangs on your every word. He is often the right hand man in famous movies and hit TV series. Sidekicks fetch Oberto beef jerky for their Alphas.
What is the shelf life of meat snacks?
Our products are stamped with a best by date and should be used on or before this date to ensure freshness.
How long after the "best by" date are the products good?
All of our products are best on or before the printed best by date – prior to opening.
How long is the meat snack good after it has been opened?
Jerky is good for about a week after opening. The flavor can get old or oxidized, but it will not spoil like fresh meat. Be sure to reseal the package after each use to prevent drying out.
Why does beef jerky cost so much?
It’s important to know why the price of jerky may seem high. It takes one pound of meat or poultry to make half a pound of jerky.
Does jerky need to be refrigerated after opening?
Natural style jerky is shelf-stable and can be stored without refrigeration.
Do you have a low or no-salt beef jerky?
Currently, Oberto does not make a low or no-salt beef jerky.
Can Oberto jerky be kept longer by freezing it?
Not really, and freezing may alter the flavor.
Why does jerky look salty?
Sometimes salt re-crystallizes on the surface of the product and gives it a “salty” appearance.
Does Oberto natural style beef jerky contain wheat gluten?

Do we use peanuts or peanut derivatives in any of our products?
No, we don’t. Oberto is a peanut free facility.
What is the little white packet in the bags of jerky?
Iron Oxide…it’s non-toxic and ensures freshness of the product.
What types of preservatives do we use in processing Oberto Natural Style beef jerky?
Salt and Sodium Nitrite are the preservatives used in Oberto Beef Jerky. Natural style jerky only uses Sodium Nitrite.
At what temperature is jerky processed?
According to USDA Meat and Poultry guidelines, meat must be heated to 160º F prior to dehydration. This step ensures that any bacteria present will be destroyed by wet heat.
